www.YORKATHLETICS.com) #3 York College men's basketball grabbed hold of a CUNYAC Championship first-round game late to pull out a 76-68 home win Sunday afternoon against the #6 City College of New York Beavers (7-17). The triumph advances York (13-10) into Wednesday's semifinal round for the first time since 2014-15. York will travel to take on the #2 Baruch College Bearcats (18-7) at 7:30 p.m. inside ARC Arena. Meeting twice during the regular season, Baruch won the season series with a 73-70 (Feb. 1) victory at York and then escaped with an 80-79 (Feb. 7) decision at home.
How it Happened
- Both teams battled for the advantage as the opening stanza featured eight lead changes and five ties.
- CCNY used a 9-2 run to take a 21-17 lead at the 7:58 mark.
- Devine Chisholm then scored five points during a 7-0 spurt to push York in front, 24-21.
- After CCNY regained a 28-26 lead, Donald Hartley Jr. drained back-to-back 3-pointers to ignite a 10-2 run to grab York a 36-30 edge before a 38-33 game headed into the break.
- Four more lead changes and seven ties were generated over the next 20 minutes of play.
- Both teams traded four-point leads until York erased a 56-52 deficit with seven-unanswered points to go up 59-56 with 7:15 showing on the second-half clock.
- CCNY fought back to tie the game twice over the next 1:46.
- Playing ahead for the final 7:42, York broke a 61-all game with a triple by Chisholm to spark an 11-3 scoring spree that pushed the lead to a game-high eight points (72-64) with 36 seconds remaining.
- During York's decisive run, Mambe Koureissi chased down Bayame Bah with a monster block at the 1:31 mark to add fuel to the Cardinals' surge.

Koureissi registered his seventh double-double of the season, posting game-highs of 20 points (8-of-12 FT) and 10 rebounds to go along with five assists, two steals and one block to pace York to victory. Hartley Jr. caught fire to sink 5-of-6 from 3-point territory and finished the game with 17 points (6-of-10 FG).
Quran Dublin contributed 17 points (4-of-4 FT), eight rebounds and six assists (one turnover) while Chisholm collected 12 points (5-of-5 FT) and five rebounds.
Yassine Sakhi highlighted CCNY with 19 points (6-of-11 FG, 6-of-6 FG), four assists and two blocks. Dashaun Galloway went for 15 points (6-of-12 FG), nine rebounds and nine assists while Luqman Ahmed and Amir Assani scored 11 and 10, respectively.
York finished the game shooting 44.1 percent (26-of-59) from the field, 36.8 percent (7-of-19) from 3-point range and 73.9 percent (17-of-23) from the free-throw line as CCNY hit on 40.3 percent (27-of-78) from the floor, 35 percent (7-of-20) from deep and 87.5 percent (7-of-8) from the charity stripe. The Cardinals converted 16 CCNY miscues into 18 points and scored 10 second-chance points off four offensive boards. Both teams drew even in blocks (3-3) and points in the paint (30-30). CCNY held the rebounding edge, 33-32, and outplayed York in assists (23-20), steals (9-4) and bench scoring (13-5).
