www.YORKATHLETICS.com) #3 York College men's basketball's run at the 2021-22 CUNYAC Championship ended Wednesday evening in the semifinals when the Cardinals were stopped by the #2 Baruch College Bearcats (18-7) with a season-ending 77-60 road loss inside ARC Arena. The Cardinals (13-11) advanced to the CUNYAC Championship semifinals for the first time since 2014-15.
How it Happened
- Owning the advantage in the early going, York came out firing in the opening minutes to build a 10-2 lead 3:27 in as Quran Dublin and Donald Hartley Jr. both poured in five during that stretch.
- After Dublin connected on a 3-pointer at the 14:38 mark to make it a 13-5 contest, Baruch put together an 11-0 run to go up 16-13.
- Dublin then scored six points during a 10-2 scoring spree to regain a 23-18 lead with 4:29 left in the half.
- Trailing by four (26-22), Baruch answered with a 12-2 run to grab a 34-28 edge.
- Hartley Jr. sank a trio of free-throws with six seconds remaining to trim Baruch's lead to three (34-31) at the break.
- York kept it close in the opening minutes of the second half, twice cutting the deficit down to one point through the 17:39 mark.
- Following a Dublin 3-pointer, Baruch attacked the rim with three layups as part of an 8-0 run to stretch its lead to nine (47-38) with 14:41 remaining.
- York fought back to get as close as five (49-44) 1:33 later before Baruch used an 11-3 spurt to make it a 13-point game (60–47) with 8:47 showing on the clock.
- The Bearcats maintained their double-digit lead for the final 6:53 and extended the margin to a game-high 17 points with 1:26 left to advance to Friday's title game against top-seeded Lehman College.

Dublin led all scorers with 26 points (7-of-16 FG, 9-of-9 FT) and collected two steals in 40 minutes of action to pace York. Hartley Jr. added 12 points (4-of-6 FT) and three assists while
Mambe Koureissi pulled down 10 rebounds (seven offensive) and added eight points (4-of-5 FT) and one block. Off the bench,
Guillermo Hernandez contributed nine rebounds, six points (3-of-5 FG), two steals and one block while
Matthew Smiley grabbed seven boards and swatted a game-high two shots.
Devine Chisholm nabbed two steals.
Adnan Bajrami anchored the Bearcats with 20 points (6-of-13 FT, 3-of-8 3FG), six rebounds, two steals and one block. Emil Purisic followed with 19 points (8-of-13 FG), 11 rebounds (six offensive) and three steals. Michael Richards and Sean Donnellan each dropped 10 points.
In the end, York sank 86.4 percent (19-of-22) from the free-throw line and struggled shooting the rock from the field (18-of-62) and 3-point territory (5-of-30) as Baruch landed 40 percent (26-of-65) from the floor, 34.8 percent (8-of-23) from beyond the arc and 73.9 percent (17-of-23) from the charity stripe. The Cardinals held the advantage in blocks (4-3) while the Bearcats outplayed York in rebounds (47-45), assists (16-9), steals (10-6), points in the paint (30-14), fast-break points (4-2) and bench scoring (9-6). Baruch scored 16 points off 15 Cardinal turnovers and netted 15 second-chance points after hauling in 18 offensive rebounds.
The Cardinals graduate a four-member senior class consisting of Dublin (2021-22), Hernandez (2019-22), Koureissi (2019-22) and
Roki Mendoza Familia (2021-22).
