NEW YORK -- (
www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's soccer closed out the 2022 season with a non-conference matchup against the City College of New York Beavers (3-13-1), earning their third shutout of the campaign with a convincing 1-0 win from Randall's Island Field #10. The Cardinals finish 2022 with a 3-9-1 record, matching the 2019 season total for the program's highest wins total since compiling five in 2014.

How it Happened
- The Cardinals tested CCNY goalie Carlos Garcia in the first half as Emre Sahin landed a shot on target for the game's first attempt 2:12 in.
- Moments later, Stanley Sanchez launched a corner kick before Doston Abdigaffarov fired a header at Garcia in the 11th minute.
- Sahin then uncorked a laser that was turned away by Garcia at the 14:38 mark prior to CCNY breaking into the shot column 1:26 later.
- York held a 6-2 advantage in shots during the opening 45 minutes as neither team found the back of the net.
- Stanley Sanchez broke a scoreless tie at 49:48 as Kervin Mondesir assisted on the CUNYAC All-Star's first-career game-winning goal.
- The tally by Sanchez was his third of the season, while Mondesir's helper gave him four goal contributions in five matches for the junior midfielder.
- York put up three more shots on target but was unable to add to its lead.
- Cardinal netminder Ricardo Dorcil (2-4-1) made key saves in the 67th and 82nd minutes to preserve the triumph.

Looking ahead, the Cardinals are expected to bring back a group of 16 returners and graduate a trio of seniors in Abdigaffarov (2018-19, 21-22), Dorcil (2022), and
Djelili Okoro (2021-22).
"We have a good core to build on for next yearm and it starts in the spring. Our offseason workouts will set the tone for Fall 2023."- Boothe added
Sahin, Mondesir, Sanchez, and Brown and
Jermaine Sampson should be a part of York's strong core next season.
