BRONX--- (
www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's soccer fell behind early on the road Saturday afternoon and were unable to recover as the Lehman College Lightning (6-3-2, 4-0-0 CUNYAC) captured a 9-2 victory in a CUNYAC matchup from South Field.
Lehman flew right out of the gates, scoring two goals within the first seven minutes. Mubarak Ouro notched his first of the season with a finish in the lower left corner. Defender Rahaman Abdulhaire grabbed the second for the Lightning at 6:44 after a move that began with a Lehman throw-in. Demetrios Argyros, Mohamed Ali Sogoba, Bright Takyi, and Alexander Agyemang added four more first-half goals for the Lightning.
Facing a deficit in the first half, the Cardinals competed in the second stanza, scoring two goals as opposed to Lehman's three. After Malik Lashley opened his collegiate account, and Agyemang completed his brace in the 65th minute,
Stanley Sanchez rifled one in the top right corner for the Cardinals. An industrious midfielder, Sanchez's strike was his second goal of the season and his third goal contribution of the campaign. After Fernando Madrid tallied on one more for the Lightning, York forward
Emre Sahin scored his first career goal, tucking the ball into the bottom left corner.
As Lehman dominated the first half, York outshot the lightning 7-4 and had more shots on target 4-3. In fact, York's seven shot attempts are the most they have generated in any match this season. Throughout the match, Sahin had six total shots, the most of any player this season. Adding onto the records, goalkeeper
Ricardo Dorcil tallied a career-high six saves for York.
The Cardinals (1-5-0, 0-2-0 CUNYAC) remain on the road, facing the Brooklyn College Bulldogs College (0-10-1, 0-3-0 CUNYAC) on Wednesday (Oct. 12) at 6:30 p.m. from Brooklyn College Field.
