JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College department of athletics will celebrate their much anticipated 2019-20 accomplishments virtually on Thursday, April 8 at 5 p.m.  The awards show will broadcast live as a YouTube premiere event made available by visiting youtube.com/yorkathletics.


 
The live stream will allow student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty/staff and fans the opportunity to engage in a virtual setting throughout the ceremony. 
 
York Athletics will, as always, present its 12 major awards while also celebrating the remarkable athletic, academic and leadership achievements of our teams and individual student-athletes from the 2019-20 year.  Student-athletes Cami Melson (Women's Basketball) and Anthony Nazario Jr. (Men's Swimming, Volleyball) will serve as emcees. 
 
In addition to the team awards, the following awards will be presented:

• Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award
• Team Academic Award
• Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Appreciation Awards
• Newcomer of the Year Award (Female/Male)
• Career Award (Female/Male)
• 'I Am Cardinal' Award
• Coach of the Year Award
• Team of the Year Award
• Student-Athlete of the Year Award (Female/Male)

 Last May, the 45th annual Athletics Awards Banquet was postponed, bowing to safety needs amid the COVID-19 pandemic.  Originally, the hope was to formally celebrate when regulations were restored to allow large in-person gatherings on campus. Given the continued delay in this regard, the decision was made to memorialize these achievements virtually at this time. 
 
We are pleased to announce that this virtual celebration of York Athletics will be made available on-demand via our YouTube page (@yorkathletics) following the premiere of the awards show.
