York College men's basketball closed out the opening day of the York Invitational Friday with a convincing 95-68 win against the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) Bears (0-10) inside York College Gymnasium to advance to Saturday's championship game. The opening game saw the Westfield State University Owls (9-2) top the Keystone College Giants (3-7) by the final count of 102-80 (Box Score) to advance to play York (3-5) on Saturday at 3 p.m. Keystone and St. Joseph's will battle it out in the consolation game at 1 p.m.
How it Happened
- The Cardinals jumped ahead 31 seconds in with a layup by Devine Chisholm to break the scoring ice.
- Moments later, St. Joseph's used a 10-2 spurt to take a 10-4 lead.
- St. Joseph's pushed its lead to nine (18-9) before York chipped away at its deficit.
- Trailing 26-22, the Cardinals went on a 14-3 scoring spree as Donald Hartley Jr. scored 10-straight points to close out the run to put York ahead by seven (36-29) with 1:31 remaining.
- Leading by seven (40-33) at intermission, York dialed it up in the second half to outscore St. Joseph's by 20 (55-35).
- Following a layup by Guillermo Hernandez that increased York's lead to 12 (59-47), St. Joseph responded with an 8-0 run to pull within four points with 10:42 showing on the second-half clock.
- Hartley Jr. drilled a triple to open a decisive 34-6 spurt to extend York's lead to a game-high 32 points (93-61) with 1:25 left.

Hartley Jr. finished with a season-high 24 points (5-of-9 3FG) off the bench to spark York to victory.
Quran Dublin poured in 20 points to go with 11 assists, seven rebounds and five steals. Chisholm went for 17 points (7-of-13 FG), five rebounds and four assists. Hernandez manufactured his third double-double of the season with career-highs of 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Mert Zor recorded 11 points (4-of-5 FG) and six assists (zero turnovers) as
Roki Mendoza Familia ripped down 12 boards.
Chris Mikos produced 23 points (10-of-16), 14 rebounds and 10 assists for St. Joseph's. Evan Sirakis followed with 12 points and six assists. Samil Melo pitched in with a game-high three blocks to help anchor the Bears' interior defense.
York connected on 48.6 percent from the field (36-of-74), 40.6 percent from three-point land (13-of-32) and 10-of-10 from the free-throw line as St. Joseph's shot 39.4 percent from the floor (28-of-71), 23.5 percent from long distance (8-of-34) and 40 percent from the charity stripe (4-of-10). The Cardinals dominated the glass, outrebounding St. Joseph's by eight (47-39), scoring 13 second-chance points off 12 offensive boards. York also owned the edge in assists (28-21) and steals (11-4) while converting 17 Bear turnovers into 22 points.
