York College remains on the road Tuesday (Nov. 16) for a non-conference matchup against Sarah Lawrence College

NEWARK --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's basketball closed out play Saturday afternoon at the John K. Adams Tip-Off Classic with a 90-78 loss in the consolation game against the Eureka College Red Devils (1-2) from The Golden Dome in Newark.

Both teams traded leads in the early going before Eureka played with the lead for the final 32:37 of action.  York went up by three points at the 13:18 mark with a layup by Olawele Kila to make it an 11-8 game prior to the Red Devils pulling ahead (17-13) with a 9-2 spurt.  Following a Donald Hartley Jr. three-pointer with 9:24 left in the half that cut York's deficit to three (23-20), the Eureka scored eight of the game's next 12 points to build a 10-point cushion (31-21) with 4:31 to go.

Trailing 38-34 at the break, York got as close as two (41-39) in the final stanza off five-quick points from Quran Dublin in the opening 1:20 of the second-half.  Eureka answered with a 10-2 scoring spree to make it a 51-41 game with 15:20 remaining.  Playing with a double-digit lead for the final 7:58, Eureka went on a 9-1 run to extend their lead to a game-high 15 points with 6:04 showing on the second-half clock.

York produced a trio of scorers in double-figures as Dublin poured in 28 points (9-of-18 FG, 5-of-7 3FG) to lead the charge.  Dublin averaged 23.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals to earn a spot on the All-John K. Adams Tip-Off Classic Team.  Devine Chisholm followed with 16 points (10-of-14 FT) and six rebounds.  Off the bench, Olawale Kila registered a career-high 13 points and two blocks.  Defensively, Roki Mendoza Familia and Guillermo Hernandez each nabbed two steals, while Medoza Famila swatted two blocks.

Charlie McKinty led all scorers with 34 points (11-of-19 FG) and 10 rebounds to pace Eureka to victory.  Ian Milsteadt produced 20 points and three steals while J'Len Crawford posted a 10-point, 14-rebound double-double.

The Cardinals shot 37.7 percent from the field (26-of-69), 21.4 percent from three-point territory (6-of-28) and 64.5 percent from the free-throw line (20-of-31) as Eureka landed 41.7 percent from the floor (30-of-72), 35.7 percent from beyond the arc (10-of-28) and 80 percent from the charity stripe (20-of-25).  York owned the edge in blocks (7-1), steals (8-5) and forced turnovers (16-14), but were unable to capitalize on 16 Red Devil turnovers, scoring just 10 points.  The Cardinals also scored nine second-chance points off 12 offensive rebounds.  Eureka held the slight edge in points in the paint (34-32) while York outscored the Red Devils in fast-break points (15-10).  The Red Devils outplayed York in rebounds (53-41), assists (16-6) and bench scoring (21-20).

The Cardinals (1-2) remain on the road Tuesday (Nov. 16) for a non-conference matchup against Sarah Lawrence College Gryphons (1-3) at 6 p.m. inside Campbell Sports Center in Bronxville, New York.
