BROOKLYN --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's soccer continued CUNYAC play at home Saturday morning by rallying late but were unable to overcome an early deficit in a 9-3 setback to the Lehman College Lightning (5-3-1, 3-1-1 CUNYAC) from Aviator Field.

The Lightning struck first with a goal by Mubarak Ouro at the 5:25 mark to beat Cardinal netminder George Molina to break the scoring ice.  Lehman  made it a 2-0 game as Mohammad Jagne doubled the Lightning advantage in the 22nd minute.  Jagne then netted his second score in the 30th minute before Ouro netted his second of four goals on the day for the game-winning goal in the 32nd minute.

With a four-goal cushion at the break, Lehman added a pair of goals to push its lead to six.  Kervin Mondesir answered for York by extending his scoring streak to five games with his team-leading sixth tally of the season in the 63rd minute.  Mondesir also drilled a free kick in the 80th minute and then finished a run from Kirk Garnder in the 88th minute to register his first-career hat trick to settle the 9-3 final.

Molina finished with a career-high nine saves in goal for York. Demiraldo Grunasi (5-3-1) stopped two shots to earn the win for Lehman.

Lehman held the edge in shots (30-9), shots on goal (17-5) and corner kicks (8-1).



The Cardinals (1-5-1, 1-3-0 CUNYAC) travel on Monday (Oct. 11) for a non-conference tilt against the New Jersey City University Gothic Knights (7-5-1) at 3 p.m. from Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field in Jersey City, New Jersey.
