www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball opened CUNYAC play Tuesday evening at home with a 3-0 (25-4, 25-6, 25-8) setback to the Baruch College Bearcats (4-11, 1-0 CUNYAC) inside York College Gymnasium. The match marked York's return to its home court for the first time since October 25, 2019.
Nadaysia Nivar tallied a team-leading three points on a career-best and match-high three blocks.
Kiara Gonzalez served York's lone ace and tallied two assists and three digs.
Kylana Laspina chipped in with two kills and paced the Cardinal defense with seven digs.
Chayana Jimenez added one kill while
Ruth Lopez contributed four digs.
Baruch was led by Anesa Feratovic's match-high nine aces. Julia Perkowski registered seven kills and three blocks as Fernanda Zamora and Amina Muminovic combined for 17 assists to direct the Bearcat offense.
York owned the advantage in digs (17-15) while both team drew even in blocks (3-3). Baruch finished with the edge in points (47-7), kills (24-3), aces (20-1) and assists (21-3).
The Cardinals (0-2, 0-1 CUNYAC) remain at home on Thursday (Oct. 7) for a non-conference matchup against the Yeshiva University Maccabees (0-1) at 6:30 p.m. Please visit
