JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball hosted the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (10-8, 3-1 CUNYAC) and Hunter College Hawks (7-8, 2-1 CUNYAC) on Monday for a CUNYAC tri-match inside York College Gymnasium.

The Cardinals opened the day with Hunter, falling 25-5, 25-7, 25-8 to the Hawks.  Chayana Jimenez registered a team-leading three points on a pair of aces and one kill to go along with six digs.  Kiara Gonzalez directed York's offense with two assists.  Nadaysia Nivar scooped a team-best and career-high eight digs while Kylana Laspina and Ruth Lopez each added four.  

Mariam Ouattara tallied a match-leading 15 points on eight aces, six kills and one block to lead Hunter.  Alexa Sayson and Liliana Khidr followed with 12 points apiece as Khidr went for nine aces.  Kiara Abreu dished out 16 assists to captain the Hawks on offense.

Both teams drew even in blocks (2-2) while Hunter held the edge in points (51-5), kills (24-3), aces (25-2), assists (23-2) and digs (15-14).

Against Brooklyn, the Cardinals got off to a slow start and closed out the match with a season-high 12 points during the third set as part of a 3-0 (25-6, 25-10, 25-10) setback to the Bulldogs.  Jimenez and Nivar paced York with three points apiece (two kills, one ace).   Lopez also contributed to York's three aces (season-best) in the match.  Gonzalez moved York on offense with a season-best seven assists.  Nivar spearheaded the Cardinal defense with eight digs, while Laspina and Gonzalez followed with six and five, respectively.  

Leading the way for Brooklyn was Alejandra Chen, who went for a match-high 12 points (eight kills, four aces).  Katia Mercado sparked the Bulldogs with 24 assists and five aces. 

York also posted a season-high 28 digs as the Cardinals owned a 28-25 advantage over the Bulldogs in that department.  Brooklyn outplayed York in points (44-10), kills (27-7), aces (17-3) and assists (26-7).
