www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball closed out CUNYAC play Thursday evening with a 3-0 (2-0, 25-15, 25-9) setback on the road to the City College of New York Beavers (3-11, 2-3 CUNYAC) inside Nat Holman Gymnasium.
The Cardinals finished with a season-high -.023 hitting percentage, totalling seven kills on 44 swings.
Kylana Laspina led York with a career-high three points and two aces to go along with seven digs.
Chayana Jimenez nailed down three kills and scooped four digs.
Kiara Gonzalez moved York on offense with six assists.
Nadaysia Nivar chipped in with two kills while the Cardinal defense saw contributions from Gonzalez and
Ruth Lopez with five digs apiece.
Natalia Abreu registered a match-high nine kills as Bianka Catral went for five aces and five kills to lead CCNY to victory. Viviana Alatorre dished out a match-leading 17 assists for the Beavers.
In the end, CCNY held the edge in hitting percentage (.206 to -.023), points (36-9), kills (23-7), aces (12-2), assists (19-7), blocks (1-0) and digs (25-24).
The Cardinals (0-7, 0-6 CUNYAC) return to the court for a non-conference road match on October 30 in Hackettstown, New Jersey starting at 11 a.m. against the host Centenary University Cyclones (5-12) followed by the Notre Dame of Maryland University Gators (11-11) at 1 p.m. inside John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center.
