www.YORKATHLETICS.com) Despite dropping a 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-15) CUNYAC road decision inside APEX Areana Tuesday evening against the Lehman College Lightning (1-12, 1-4 CUNYAC), York College women's volleyball continues to show growth as the season progresses. Producing their best performance of the 2021 season, the Cardinals registered season-highs in points, service aces, kills, assists and digs.
Chayana Jimenez sparked York with a career-high seven aces and tied a personal-best with 11 points. Jimenez added four kills and five digs to her stat line, while
Alexandra Taveras followed with six points on three aces and three kills to go with six digs.
Kiara Gonzalez contributed a season-high nine digs, four points, three kills and one ace.
Emily Cabrera nailed down a career-high three kills and scooped five digs. York also received defensive contributions from
Kylana Laspina (six digs) and
Nadaysia Nivar (five digs).
Andrea Alarcon led Lehman to victory with a match-leading 12 points on seven kills and five aces. Heder Rodriguez moved the Lightning offense with 20 assists and four aces.
York owned the advantage in blocks (1-0) and digs (37-22). Lehman finished with the edge in points (39-25), kills (26-13), aces (13-11) and assists (24-8).
The Cardinals (0-6, 0-5 CUNYAC) remain on the road Thursday (Oct. 21) for a CUNYAC finale against the City College of New York Beavers (2-11, 1-3 CUNYAC) at 7 p.m. from Nat Holman Gymnasium.
