NEW YORK --- (
www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's soccer were unable to keep pace with the City College of New York Beavers (6-5-0, 3-0-0 CUNYAC) on Saturday evening in an 8-0 CUNYAC decision on the road from Randall's Island Park Field #10.
The Beavers jumped ahead early and never looked back as York conceived eight goals in the opening stanza. CCNY got it going 35 seconds in as MacKenzie Moreno fed Cassidy Canberg for the game-winning goal. Laura Villatoro then doubled CCNY's advantage at the 2:17 mark to slip a goal past Cardinal netminder
Stephanie Gutierrez (0-3-0) for the 2-0 lead. CCNY featured six different goal scorers led by a pair of goals from Canberg and Moreno.
Gutierrez made six saves while Rosario Baltazar (5-3-0) earned CCNY's clean sheet.
CCNY held the edge in shots (18-0), shots on goal (14-0) and corner kicks (2-0).
The Cardinals (0-5-0, 0-3-0 CUNYAC) are back in action on Tuesday (Oct. 19) for a CUNYAC showdown against the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (0-11-0, 0-2-0 CUNYAC) at 4 p.m. from Brooklyn College Field.
