www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's volleyball snapped a five-match losing streak Saturday afternoon with a convincing three-set sweep (25-21, 25-22, 25-12) of the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins (0-12) in non-conference action from Peter Jay Sharp Center in Riverdale.
The Cardinals combined to attack at a season-best rate of .263 with 36 kills as Mount Saint Vincent was limited to hitting .000. York also owned the advantage in kills (36-19), assists (29-16), aces (6-4), blocks (4-1) and digs (34-24).
David Heyliger, Jr. led York to victory with a career-high 14 points, 12 kills, two aces and nine digs.
Akil Vaughn also went for 14 points on 10 kills and four blocks while
Mambe Koureissi registered 10 kills on 13 swings to hit .769.
John Vitor's career-high 26 assists moved the Cardinals on offense and
Justin Saji scooped a personal-best 10 digs.
Padelis Astrinidis paced Mount Saint Vincent with 5.5 points (four kills, one ace) as Miguel Losa tallied 14 assists.
The Cardinals (2-6) remain on the road Wednesday (Feb. 26) for a non-conference matchup against the Yeshiva University Maccabees (2-3) starting at 8 p.m. inside Max Stern Athletic Complex.
