www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's soccer closed out a two-game road trip Wednesday evening with a 9-0 non-conference setback to the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) Bears (2-0-0) from Aviator Field in Brooklyn.
Anisah Molic broke the scoring ice 7:25 in with an unassisted goal past Cardinal netminder
Chelsea Vasquez (0-3-0) for the game-winning tally. The Bears doubled their advantage 4:22 later with Clara Curtiss finishing a feed from Christina DiBartolo for the 2-0 lead. Curtiss and Molic would both add their second goals of the game to help the Bears go up 5-0 at intermission.
York threatened in the 51th minute with a corner kick, but the Bear defensive unit prevented the Cardinals from getting off a shot on goalie Lauren Quesada (2-0-0). The final score was settled in the 63rd minute with Molic closing out the scoring with her third goal of the game. The Cardinals broke into the shot column with an attempt by Gissell Flores-Barajas at the 74:32 mark. Flores-Barajas then tested Quesada 1:36 later with her second-straight shot on target. York fired a pair of corners in the closing minutes but were unable to convert as Quesada held on for the combined clean sheet with Reem Shaban (2-0).
Vasquez faced seven shots in the final 27:05 and finished with 10 saves.
In the end, the Bears outplayed York in shots (33-2), shots on goal (19-2) and corner kicks (9-3).
York (0-3-0) opens a two-game homestand starting Saturday (Sept. 7) evening against the Penn State University-Abington Nittany Lions (1-1-0) with a 7 p.m. kickoff from Aviator Field.
