www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball returned to CUNYAC play Tuesday evening with a 3-0 (25-6, 25-5, 25-14) setback on the road to the Hunter College Hawks (6-6, 4-0 CUNYAC) inside Hunter Sportsplex.
After struggling through the opening sets, York jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead during a third stanza that saw the Cardinals hit .083 to register 14 points. The Cardinals kept it close (12-8) before Hunter put away the match with a 13-6 run to close out the third set. York finished the match hitting -.045 while Hunter attacked at a rate of .459 and held the advantage in points (62-8), kills (40-8), aces (20-0), blocks (2-0), assists (33-7) and digs (26-25).
Shamonie Miller led the Cardinals with three kills and 10 digs.
Alexandra Taveras hit a team best .222 and finished with two kills and four assists.
Chrissy Hobson added two kills.
Mariam Ouattara's 13 points on eight kills, four aces and a block paced Hunter to victory. Alexa Sayson and Justin Smith each served four of Hunter's 20 aces on the evening.
The Cardinals (3-6, 1-2 CUNAYC) return to the court Friday (Sept. 27) when they host the Pine Manor College Gators (0-2) for a pair of non-conference matchups starting at 5 p.m. inside York College Gymnasium.
