BELLEROSE, NY --- (
www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College softball opened a six-game homestand Friday afternoon with a 21-0 CUNYAC setback to the Lehman College Lightning (8-12, 3-0 CUNYAC) from Padavan-Preller Field in Bellerose, New York. Scheduled as a doubleheader, game two never got underway due to rain, and will now be played Monday (Apr. 15) at 4 p.m. from Queens College Softball Field in Flushing, New York.
Lehman jumped ahead early with a seven-run opening frame on York (0-11, 0-7 CUNYAC) starter
Dorianny Rojas (L, 0-6: 10 H, 21 R, 11 ER, 14 BB, 6 K). Diamond Villegas (2-for-2, 3 R, 2 RBI, 3 BB) broke the scoring ice with a RBI double to plate home Stephany Cruz (2-for-4, 5 RBI, 3 R, 2 BB) for the game-winning run.
Rojas led off York's first by ripping Villegas' (W, 6-5: 5 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 13 K) pitch for a single. Rojas then stole her second base of the season before being stranded to end York's first-inning threat.
Nicolasa Restituyo (1-for-1, BB) stroked a two-out single in the fifth inning to tally York's other hit.
