BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—The York College men's volleyball team held off Sarah Lawrence College, 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-23) on Saturday afternoon.
York had a hard-fought match against the Gryphons. After taking a 2-0 set lead, the Cardinals held off a late Sarah Lawrence surge to earn the victory.
Akil Vaughn (18 kills) and
Kevin Campbell (13 kills) played a considerable role as York had a 37 to 17 kills advantage as a team. Setter
Juan Rodriguez tallied 29 assists. Mambe Kouressi also had a strong game, finishing with four kills, hitting. 333 and recording three block solo blocks.
Gustavo Villanueva had a team-best eight digs.
York (2-11, 0-2 CUNYAC) will be back in action on March 5 home vs. Brooklyn College at 7 PM.
