Jenkins and Dove’s 58 Combined Points Not Enough vs. CCNY

JAMAICA, N.Y. — The York College men's basketball team took a neck-and-neck home loss to the City College of New York, 83-77, at home on Tuesday night. Taishaun Forehand-Jenkins and Darin Dove put up 58 points combined, but the Cardinals came up short late.
 
York was clicking in the first half as they raced out to a 17-point lead (30-13) at 8:44 after eight-straight points from Jenkins. The Beavers closed the half strong, however, using 12 points apiece from Mike White and Tyler Banks at the half to cut their deficit to nine (47-38) heading into the lockers.
 
CCNY outplayed the hosts in the second half, outscoring them 45-30 over the final 20 minutes and shooting solid percentages of 48.5 from the field and 35.3 from deep to close the gap. The visitors' defense locked up in the second as well, holding York to a 34.4% mark from the floor and 18.2% from three in the final period, as they went on to win by six.
 
Jenkins had 32 points (10-16 FG, 4-7 3FG, 8-9 FT), eight assists, and six boards. Dove posted a 26-point, 10-rebound double-double (two steals, one block). Maliqe John (two blocks) and Akil Vaughn had seven rebounds each in the loss.
 
City College was led by White's 27 points and Banks' 22-point, 12-rebound double-double as well as 10 points, seven boards, and four assists off the bench from Romello Rashad.
 
Next up for the Cardinals is a CUNYAC road contest at John Jay on Saturday (Feb. 9) at 3 p.m.
