@yorkcardinals Men’s Basketball concludes 5-game road trip at Lehman

York College opens a seven-game homestand starting Tuesday (Dec. 10) against SUNY Old Westbury


BRONX  --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's basketball closed out a five-game road trip Friday evening with a 91-64 CUNYAC setback on the road to the Lehman College Lightning (2-5, 1-1 CUNYAC) from APEX Main Gym in Bronx.

After falling behind by four early, York answered with a 6-1 run as Akil Vaughn scored four to give the Cardinals a 6-5 lead with 15:51 showing on the first-half clock.  Moments later, York tied the game at 14 on a Donald Hartley, Jr. 3-pointer at the 13:09 mark.  Lehman responded by going on an 18-3 scoring spree to build a 32-17 lead with 6:17 left. Jaye Bookhart would later drain a pair of 3-pointers to pull York within 13 points (41-28) before Lehman closed out the final 1:43 with six-unanswered points to extend the lead to 19 (47-28) at the break.  

York got as close as making it a 12-point game (52-40) 2:56 in with a 13-5 run capped by two of Devine Chisholm's five points during the spurt.  The Cardinals were unable to overcome the first-half deficit as Lehman played with a 20-point lead for the final 4:26. 

Chisholm drained a career-high four 3-pointers and scored all 15 of his points in the second half while dishing out a game-high five assists.  Vaughn totaled 10 points (4-of-6 FG), eight rebounds and one block as Bookhart scored 13 points and Hartley, Jr. followed with 12.

Lehman's Mo Idrissou led all scorers with a game-high 20 points (6-of-10 FG, 4-of-6 3FG).  Gian Batista contributed 17 points and nine rebounds to the win.  

In the end, York shot 40 percent from the field (20-of-50) and 3-point territory (10-of-25) and landed 66.7 percent from the free-throw line (14-of-21) while Lehman connected on 47.8 percent from the floor (33-of-69), 34.8 percent from long distance (8-of-23) and 58.6 percent from the charity stripe (58.6).  The Lightning held a 41-37 rebounding edge, scoring 16 second-chance points off 13 offensive boards. Both teams drew even in blocks (1-1) as Lehman also outplayed York in steals (16-2), assists (15-11) and points off turnovers (34-12).

The Cardinals (2-5, 0-2 CUNYAC) open a seven-game homestand starting Tuesday (Dec. 10) against the SUNY Old Westbury Panthers (1-4) at 7 p.m. inside York College Gymnasium.
