Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

@yorkcardinals Men’s Soccer powered by Mondesir’s multi-goal performance against CCNY

York College returns to the pitch Wednesday (Oct. 9) at John Jay College

FLUSHING, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's soccer led twice during Saturday's CUNAYC home match against the City College of New York Beavers (2-8-0, 2-2-0 CUNYAC) but a pair of unanswered goals proved to be the difference in a 3-2 setback from Knights Field on the campus of Queens College in Flushing, New York.

Coming off a three-goal performance Wednesday at Baruch College, Marvin Mondesir tested CCNY goalie Kacper Lesniak (2-8-0) with four of York's five first-half shots on target.

After a scoreless first half, Marvin Mondesir broke the scoring ice at 51:27 with a penalty kick for his team-leading fifth goal of the season.  Darko Delano headed home the equalizer for CCNY in the 59th minute on a double assist originating from a corner kick. The Cardinals replied 1:53 later as Mondesir ripped a loose ball in the box past Lesniak for York's 2-1 advantage.  CCNY tied the game in the 66th minute with Edgar Gutierrez finishing a feed in the box from Moustapha Salane. Alan Tsigalnitsky then settled the 3-2 final in the 73rd minute on a penalty kick to beat Cardinal goalie Jasper McLeod (1-10-0) for the game-winning goal.  The Cardinals threatened with 23 seconds left but were called offside as the game-tying goal by Ebrahim Ramos was erased.

The Cardinals outplayed CCNY in shots (20-11) and shots on goal (8-6) while the Beavers held the edge in corner kicks (7-5).  York's 20 shots were a season-high as Mondesir contributed career-highs of eight attempts and seven shots on target.

McLeod finished with three saves as Lesniak stopped six shots.

The Cardinals (1-10-0, 0-3-0 CUNYAC) continue CUNYAC play on the road Wednesday (Oct. 9) afternoon with a 3 p.m. matchup against the John Jay College Bloodhounds (4-6-0, 2-1-0 CUNYAC) from Randall's Island Field 83 in Manhattan.
