@yorkcardinals Women’s Soccer wraps up CUNYAC slate at CCNY

York College returns to action Saturday (Oct. 26) at Medgar Evers College

NEW YORK --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's soccer closed out their CUNYAC schedule Wednesday evening with a 6-0 setback on the road to the CCNY Beavers (5-7-0, 2-1-0 CUNYAC) from Randall's Island Park Field 10.

CCNY jumped ahead early as Gabrielle Duchaussee put one past Cardinal goalie Chelsea Vasquez (2-11-0) 2:01 in to net the game-winning goal.  Gisselle Flores-Barajas broke the Cardinals into the shot column at 3:34 on blocked attempt and later fired high in the 29th minute. York regrouped defensively until Cassidy Canberg doubled CCNY's advantage at the 31:41 mark before Duchaussee added to the total 43 seconds later to send a 3-0 Beaver lead into intermission.

Duchaussee went on to score three more goals during a span of 8:06 in the second half to settle the 6-0 final.

The Beavers finished with the edge in shots (27-8), shots on goal (14-2) and corner kicks (3-1).  York was led offensively by Mary Meshanski, who put up a career-high three shots while Flores-Barajas followed with two.

Vasquez turned away eight shots as Catherine Langkamp (4-7-0) made one save to secure CCNY's win.

The Cardinals (2-11-0, 1-4-0 CUNYAC) return to action Saturday (Oct. 26) afternoon against the Medgar Evers College Cougars (0-12-0) in non-conference action from Aviator Field in Brooklyn.
