NEW YORK --- (
www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's soccer traveled Wednesday evening to Randall's Island Park, where they faced a 4-3 CUNYAC setback to the defending CUNYAC champions Baruch College Bearcats (5-4-1, 3-0-0 CUNYAC).
The Cardinals struck first as
Marvin Mondesir broke the scoring with his first of three goals on the day by beating Baruch goalie Kellen Sela (5-4-1) in the 34th minute. Baruch then sent a tied game (1-1) into intermission with 1:42 remaining on a tally by Andy Figueroa.
Following a goal by Cormac Foley 1:25 in to second-half play, Mondesir fired the equalizer from 40 yards out past Sela in the 58th minute. The Bearcats responded with a pair of goals within a stretch of 1:34 as Luis Munoz buried the game-winner past Cardinal goalie
Jasper McLeod in the 64th minute. Mondesir converted a penalty kick in the 84th minute to settle the 4-3 final.
McLeod (1-9-0) turned away 10 shots while Sela made five saves to secure Baruch's win.
In the end, the Bearcats held the advantage in shots (29-12), shots on goal (14-8) and corner kicks (7-1).
The Cardinals (1-9-0, 0-2-0 CUNYAC) take on the CCNY Beavers (0-8-0, 0-2-0 CUNYAC) Saturday (Oct. 5) afternoon at 2 p.m. in a CUNYAC home match from Knights Field at Queens College in Flushing , New York.
