Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

McLeod records clean sheet as @yorkcardinals Men’s Soccer draws with Brooklyn

York College is home Wednesday (Oct. 23) to close out the regular season with a pivotal CUNYAC Senior Day matchup against Hunter College

BROOKLYN  --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's soccer pushed their unbeaten streak to three games Saturday after earning one point in the CUNYAC standings with a scoreless tie on the road to the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (3-11-1, 3-3-1 CUNYAC) from Brooklyn College Field.  The Cardinals last went unbeaten in three games in 2014, and with one game left in the regular season, York currently occupies fifth place with a one point lead over CCNY.

Jasper McLeod (3-10-1, 2-3-1 CUNYAC) secured his first-career shutout by making stop after stop to finish with eight saves in goal for York.  The defining moment for McLeod came in the 102nd minute, when he turned away a penalty shot by Alex Sosa at the 101:08 mark, and five seconds later denied Demyan Turiy's attempt before Sosa launched a strike high at 101:26.  During the last three outings, McLeod has elevated his game, allowing just two goals in 200 minutes in between the pipes.

York would then go on the offensive 60 seconds later with a Hans Merilan header that hit the post.  Shemar Green tested Brooklyn goalie Lorenzo Davies (3-11-1) at 104:16 before Marvin Mondesir's header landed wide 45 seconds later.

After Brooklyn outplayed York in the shots (8-2) during the opening 45 minutes, the Cardinals held a 15-11 shooting edge in the final 65 minutes of play.  York finished with the advantage in corner kicks (3-1).

Mondesir launched a match-high seven shots, with four landing on target to lead York's offensive charge.  Merilan followed with four attempts while Green put up three shots (two on goal).

Sosa led Brooklyn with six shots (two on goal) while Luis Garcia put up four (three on goal).

The Cardinals (3-10-1, 2-3-1 CUNYAC) return to action Wednesday (Oct. 23) for a pivotal CUNYAC Senior Day showdown against the Hunter College Hawks (5-7-1, 4-1-0 CUNYAC) at 2 p.m. from Aviator Field in Brooklyn.  Prior to kickoff, seniors Abdel Manahf Idrissou (2016-19), Ricardo Mendez (2015, 2019), Vladimir Pavlovic (2016-19) and Fabrice Pierre-Paul (2016, 2018-19) will be honored for their dedication to York College Athletics with the annual Senior Day Ceremony.
