NEW YORK, N.Y.—The York College women's basketball team lost to the City College of New York 64-40 on the road Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals
Keyla Cabrera hauled in 18 rebounds, and
Mac-Dege Dessources added a game-high 20 rebounds with four blocks.
Ellma Hodzic also chipped in 13 points. York out-rebounded CCNY, 56-40 on the glass.
Debra Chan with a team-high 18 points led CCNY, while Crystal Blair added 8 points and ten rebounds.
York struggled early offensively in the first quarter of play, scoring just 9 points. CCNY led by 12 after the first quarter with 40% shooting from the 3 point line in the first half. In the second quarter, York picked up their defense and held CCNY to 10 points to cut the deficit and trail by 8 points at the half. CCNY led 31-23 at halftime. Although the Cardinals made runs in the game York would be outscored 33-17 in the 2nd half as CCNY closed out the game for the win.
The loss drops York's record to 2-11 overall and 1-4 in CUNYAC while CCNY improves 7-3 and 1-3 CUNYAC. Despite the record with 12 remaining games Cardinals have 11 conference games left to make up ground.
The Cardinals will be home on Tuesday, January 7 to take on Baruch at 5:30 p.m.
