NEW YORK, N.Y.—The York College men's basketball team defeated CUNYAC rival the City College of New York 91-68 on the road Saturday afternoon.
CCNY'S Romello Rashad opened up the score dropping a three-point basket and being fouled by
Jonathan Jones. He would then convert his free throw shot to successfully complete a four- point play. The Cardinals would not score until minute 17:46, where
Akil Vaughn scored a layup. A few minutes later
Darin Dove would then drop a three-point basket with an assist by
Taishaun Forehand-Jenkins. York would then take control of the game, being up by 10 points with a layup by
Amaninder Pawar. The Beavers, Mike White netted a key 3-point basket with .03 seconds left of the first half. CCNY would take a lead at half-time 39-32.
The game was a back and forth battle as teams were tied 51-51 when York started to make their run at the 12:28 mark when they took a one-point lead and never trailed. They pushed the lead up to 23 points to win the game. In the last 14 minutes the Cardinals outscored CCNY 38-16.
York would finish the game strong and take a win on the road. Four Cardinal players would finish with double figures in scoring
Taishaun Forehand- Jenkins would be the high man for York dropping 23 points, shooting 8-17 from field goal range topping it off with 15 assists.
Darin Dove finished the game with 18 points shooting 7-14 from field goal range,
Devine Chisholm netted 16 points and
Akil Vaughn finished with a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Cardinals improve their record to 5-8 overall as CCNY fall to 1-11 overall.
York's next game is against Baruch College on Monday 1/7/19 at 7:30pm.
