JAMAICA, N.Y.-- The York College men's basketball team were able to come out victorious on Tuesday night versus the College of Staten Island by a score of 69-64.
Rigaud Destime opened up the scoring for CSI with a jumper. By minute 14:33, the Dolphins would be on a 13-5 run. Later in the half,
Akil Vaughn would successfully drop two free throws after being fouled by James Delahanty (CSI). The Cardinals would now trail by three points. Minutes later, freshman
Luca Tamer would convert from behind the three-point arc to make it a tie game. The first half would end with CSI leading by 1 point. (31-30).
The Cardinals would shoot 83.3% from the free throw line in the first half.
The second half would start off where the first left off as both teams would trade baskets. In minute 9:19,
Luca Tamer would score on a layup giving the Cardinals a 10 point lead. CSI would find themselves just 5 points down with a layup by Christian Taylor by minute 2:51. In the dying seconds of the game,
Taishaun Forehand-Jenkins would draw a foul and convert his two free throws to secure York's win over CSI.
Taishaun Forehand-Jenkins would drop 14 points shooting 100% from field goal range, behind the three point arc and free throw line.
York improves their record to 8-13 (4-8 CUNYAC) as CSI drops to 13-8 (9-3 CUNYAC).
