BROOKLYN, NY- The York women's basketball team traveled to CUNYAC opponent Medgar Evers College on Friday night and came away with a win defeating the Cougars, 67-40. 

At halftime, York was able to gain a 36-20 lead. The Cardinals limited the Cougars to eight field goals in the first half. Through the first two quarters of play, York shot 45% from the field, including 27% from deep.

The Cardinals trailed early in the 1st quarter by the score of 4-6 but quickly turned it around and extended the lead to double digits. Aided by a 17-5 run, York put the game away midway in the first quarter and never trailed. 

Medgar Evers only shot 20% from the field, while turning the ball over 25 times. York capitalized on these opportunities, scoring 22 points off turnovers. The Cardinals totaled 12 steals, including a game high eight steals by Dayana Jacome. Mac-Dege Dessources added 17 points, while hauling in 18 rebounds, and Keyla Cabrerea with seven points and 12 rebounds. Double digit scorers Kristina Sierra with15 points and Sheahna Roscher chipped in 10 points. 

The Cardinals will be home game against New York University. The game is scheduled for Tuesday, at 6:00 pm.
