Throggs Neck N.Y. — In the first of four straight road games, the York College men's soccer team traveled to Throggs Neck, NY – Reinhart Field to take on Maritime College. The Privateers took a 5-0 lead into the half, and tacked on four goals in the second half to seal the deal on their third victory of the young season.

Maritime put the pressure on from the start, out-shooting York 4-0 in the first 16 minutes, then breaking the tie in the 18
th minute when Andrew Higgins scored. Two minutes later the Privateers padded the lead, as Justin Forrest assisted Chris Tavernese on a quick scoring opportunity. Justin Forrest assisted with three goals in the first half for Maritime.
Junior
Johan Bermeo (Jamaica N.Y./Queens Vocational) manned the net for the Cardinals allowing six goals while saving four. However, he was subbed out for the second half in favor of sophomore
Tyrese Jackson (Brooklyn, N.Y./BCAM HS). Jackson allowed three goals in the 79th, 80th, and 82st minute. York compiled a total of two shots on the day, as opposed to Martime's 31. Despite this, Jackson came away with a save of his own in the loss. Senior Rohan Burelll (Jamaica, N.Y./St. Jago HS) fired the Cardinals only two shots on the day all coming in the first half.
The Cardinals return to action on September 8, 2018 at 3:00pm against St. Joseph's College - Brooklyn at Patchogue, NY / Danzi Athletic Center.
