JAMAICA, N.Y.—The York College women's soccer team lost to the College of Staten Island on Wednesday afternoon by a final score of 8-0.
It didn't take long for the Dolphins to get on the scoreboard. In the 14th minute of play, Lizbeth Aparicio scored off a loose ball. From there the Dolphins would continue to have a huge offensive advantage taking a 20-1 shot edge over the Cardinals. York gave up another two goals before the first half to trail 3-0.
To start the second half, the Dolphins offense picked up where it left off by scoring in the 46th minute. It was Lizabeth Aparicio's second goal; scoring off a rebound from a blocked shot. York was unable to limit the Dolphins attack Mirsade Pelinkovic and Adrianna Parello each had two goals for College of Staten Island in the win.
Sophomore Stephanie Guiterrez, the Cardinals' goalie, recorded six saves on the afternoon, while Freshman
Diana Velasquez would have the only recorded shot on goal for the Cardinals.
After today's loss, the Cardinals fall to 0-9-1, 0-3 CUNYAC on the season, while College of Staten Island improves to 6-3-0, 3-0 CUNYAC. The Cardinals will look to rebound when they go on the road to Long Island, to take on St. Joseph' College (LI) on Sunday at 12 p.m.
