NEW YORK, N.Y.— York College scored a late goal in regulation against Hunter College to even the game but the two overtime periods were unable to break the 1-1 draw, on Saturday afternoon.
The Hawks Blaise Enama scored the first goal in the 18th minute to put his team on top. The Cardinals offense was held to two shots while picking up seven fouls in the first half.
Then in the second half, the Hawks continued with a 10-3 advantage on shots. York battled back and evened the score on a pretty first goal of the season by Sophmore
Ayomide Akinde in the 56th minute.
Ebrahim Ramos set up the goal on a nice assist.
In the overtime sessions, both teams went back and forth with Hunter College taking a 4-1 shot advantage on York College. In the 109th minute York's College Freshman
Jean Arias Gonzalez was called for critical yellow card which resulted in Hunter penalty kick. Hunter's Adam Pine missed the penalty kick by going over the crossbar preserving the 1-1 tie.
York's record now stands at 1-6-1, 0-1-1 CUNYAC, while Hunter stands at 2-5-1, 0-1 CUNYAC. The Cardinals next game is another CUNYAC matchup vs. Lehman College on Wednesday, September 26 at 4:30 pm.
