BALTIMORE, Md. -- The York College women's soccer team suffered a tough loss on Saturday afternoon falling to Notre Dame (Maryland), 4-0.
 
The Cardinals held the Gators to one goal scored in the 23rd minute of play. The York defense had a stretch of 45 minutes of keeping the opponent scoreless. In the second period, Notre Dame pulled away by scoring three goals in the last fifteen minutes to put the match out of reach. Senior Meghan Conner (Huntington, MD/St Mary's Ryken) led Notre Dame with three goals on the day.
 
The hosts controlled much of the play, holding the Cardinals to a 22-7 shot discrepancy in the contest. Freshman Diana Velasquez (Bayshore, NY/ Brentwood) broke loose on four shots on goal that alluded the net. 
 
York is back in action on Wednesday, September 5th against Mount Saint Vincent at Randalls' Island. The home opener will be on Saturday, September 8th versus Clarks Summit University at Aviator in Brooklyn.
