Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer comes up short vs Stevens

BROOKLYN, N.Y.—Stevens Institute of Technology  defeated the York College men's soccer team, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon.

The Ducks controlled most of the game. Brett Holtzman's header found the back of the net, putting the Ducks on the board at the 15-minute mark of the first half.

The York defense could not hold off the Stevens offense as two more goals were tacked on to close out the half. The Cardinals goalie, Junior Johan Bermeo (Queens Vocational HS/Jamaica, NY), made a valiant effort to keep the Cardinals in the game but suffered the loss.

Junior Rohan Burrell (St. Jago HS, Jamaica, NY) had the lone goal of the afternoon for the Cardinals. With a little under 15 minutes left in the second half, Burrell scored off of a penalty kick with a pretty shot into the left corner.

On the day, Stevens outshot York 21-4, including an 11-3 edge in shots on net. York fouls proved to be costly in this one.  They committed 14 fouls which lead to a goal.

After today's game, York drops to 1-5 on the season, while Stevens improves to 7-1. Up next for the Cardinals will be a home game on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. versus Brooklyn College.  The game will be played at Aviator Field.
