JAMAICA N.Y.— The York College men's tennis team was back in action on Saturday to play a match at home against Lehman in another cold and windy day in April. Despite their best performance of the season, the Cardinals fell to the Lightning, 6-3.
Lehman College picked up two easy wins in the first two doubles matches but the duo of
Rahim Houston and
Ralph Ramos tested the lighting in #3 singles. Houston and Ramos would go back and forth with Lehman's Brian Persaud and Ramsey Tapia but would eventually end up losing, 8-6.
The Cardinals looked very strong and competitive in the singles matches.
Felix Liew won #4 singles in convincing fashion for the Cardinals, winning, 6-3 and then 6-0. In #5 singles
Ralph Ramos also had a strong win for the Cardinals winning, 6-1, 6-0. The last win for the Cardinals came from
Rahim Houston in #6 singles. Houston won 6-4, 2-1.
After today's loss the Cardinals fall to 0-3 on the season while the Lightning improve to 4-4 on the season. The Cardinals will look to get in the winning column when they travel to Brooklyn College on Tuesday for a 4pm start.
