JAMAICA, N.Y.—The York College men's volleyball team went down in straight sets at home to Bard College Wednesday night, losing 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-14).
Bard hit a strong .313 as a team and collected 38 kills on the night, compared to just 22 for the Cardinals. York hit .013 as a team.
Leading York in the loss was
Akeem George, who had seven kills.
Akil Vaughn finished with six kills and had ten digs.
Frederis Tapia chipped in six kills. Bard was led by Tyler Zowaski, who finished with 15 kills and hit .619 on the night.
The Cardinals kept it close for most of the first set, trailing 12-9 until Bard went on an 8-2 run to take a commanding 20-11 lead.
York had its chance to even things up in the second set. Trailing 19-12, York scored five straight points thanks to few Bard errors and two George Kills, to get back into the set. However, Bard would hold off the late York run to take a 2-0 lead.
The final set was all Bard. After York took an early lead, Bard would pick it up, going on runs of 5-1 and 6-0 to put the set well out of reach.
York now drops to 3-14 with the loss, while Bard is 2-15. York will return to action next Wednesday when they host CUNYAC rival Lehman College at 7 p.m.
