Third Quarter Run Helps York Top New Rochelle, 80-65

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.—A  big run at the start of the second half propelled the York College women's basketball team to an 80-65 win over the College of New Rochelle on Saturday afternoon.
 
After a tight fist half, York outscored the Blue Angels 22-9 in the third quarter to pull away. Karen Bellamy had another big performance for York, scoring 27 points with 10 assists and four steals.  Victoria Salas set a new career high in points, scoring 18 to go along with eight rebounds and three assists.  Diamond Jackson chipped in 12 points with six boards and Sheahna Roscher grabbed a game-high ten rebounds.
 
New Rochelle got 16 points and four assists from Dar'Neisha Brice. Aaliyah Fields scored 14 points with six rebounds.
 
The Cardinals had their best shooting performance of the season, making 47.8 percent of the their shots.  They also had one of their best defensive performances, holding CNR to just 28.8 percent shooting and forcing 24 turnovers.
 
With the win, York is now 8-16. New Rochelle drops to 9-12.  The Cardinals will close out the season on Tuesday with a home game vs. Brooklyn College at 6:30 p.m. It will be York's senior night, with seniors Karen Bellamy, Giovana Rosado, Allison Ahmed and Juliet Matthews being honored.
