KINGS POINT, N.Y.—The York College women's basketball team had a tough Tuesday evening losing in a non-conference game to the United States Merchant Marine Academy by a score of 64-39.
USMMA got off to an early lead with York keeping pace but the Mariners took the led 19-11 after the first quarter. The second quarter USMMA extended the lead to 39-16 heading into halftime. The Mariners continued their strong play in the second half despite the Cardinals outscoring the Mariners 17-7 over the remainder of the game.
The Cardinals also did not shoot well, making just 17-of-57 shots on the evening.
USMMA was led by Lauren Hunter who had 22 points and 11 boards.
Sheahna Roscher had 10 points with two rebounds, and
Ellma Hodzic chipped in eight points and six rebounds for York.
York drops to 1-7, while USMMA improves to 7-0. The Cardinals will host the College of New Rochelle on Thursday, December 13 at 6 p.m.
