OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — CUNYAC Rookie of the Week Mac-Dege Dessources posted a 13-point, 19-rebound double-double, but the York College (N.Y.) women's basketball team (0-4) fell 97-38 to the College at Old Westbury on Wednesday night. Keyla Cabrera hit a layup at 6:39 in the first to bring the Cardinals within two (6-4) early on, but that was the closest they would come all night. A 10-0 run gave the Panthers a double-digit advantage and went on to lead 22-8 after the first.
The second quarter was more of the same as Old Westbury outscored York 23-15 to build a 45-23 advantage behind nine points and two assists from Tori Bellings at the half. The hosts continued to stomp their foot down in the second half, holding the Cardinals to four points in the third and cruising to a lopsided victory.
Dessources added two blocks on top of her double-double while Ellma Hodzic chipped in six points, two assists, two steals, and a block in the loss. Sheahna Roscher also had six points two assists, a steal, and a block.
Next up for the Cardinals is their CUNYAC opener at Brooklyn College on Friday (Nov. 30) at 5 pm.
