Velasquez leads York Women's Soccer over Yeshiva

BROOKLYN, NY— York College Freshman, Diana Velasquez scored two goals to lead the Cardinals' women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Yeshiva University on Sunday.
 
Freshman, Taylor Bellmon got York on the scoreboard tipping in her rebound inside the box at the 33rd minute to put York up 1-0. Then in the 48th minute, Yeshiva was called for a penalty kick allowing Velasquez to score the penalty kick to extend the Cardinals lead 2-0.   

York then rounded out the scoring in the 69th minute, when Junior, Michelle Rodriguez dropped a pass to Velasquez at the top of the box for her second goal in the contest. 
 
In goal, Stephanie Gutierrez turned away two shots to earn her second shutout of the season in back to back games.

The win puts the York record at (2-13-1), while Yeshiva drops to 0-12. The Cardinals will look to build off the momentum from the impressive victory when they play their last game of the campaign against College of Saint Elizabeth on Wednesday.
