Women's Soccer ends season with tough loss

MORRISTOWN, N.J.- The York College women's soccer season came to a close on Wednesday with a loss to St. Elizabeth by a score of 3-2.

The Cardinals opened up the score when midfielder Diana Velasquez scored off a cross to the middle by Diamond Jackson with 14 minutes remaining in the first half. York's lead would not last very long as Saint Elizabeth's midfielder, Yesailin Lopez found the back of the net to equalize the score at 1 goal a piece. During the 44th minute of the match, it would be Eagles midfielder, Angelica Villatoro converting from the penalty spot to give the Eagles the lead 2-1 before the half.

During the 73rd minute of the match, York's own Isis Funez scored on a penalty kick to equalize the match at 2 goals a piece. The Cardinals would then find their backs against the wall in the very late moments of the match as Eagles defender Taylor Veve scored the game winner giving her team  the 3-2 victory over York.

The Cardinals finished the season with a record of 2-14-1, 1-4 CUNYAC.
