Men’s Basketball Uses Balanced Effort to Top Rival Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y.—The York College men's basketball team had five players reach double figures in points and defeated Brooklyn College by a score of 86-77 on the road Thursday night.
 
Darin Dove led the way with 23 points and six assists, including five three pointers, while Ryan Smart had 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists.  Edwin Sainvil netted 13 points with six assists and Maliqe John finished with 11 points and five rebounds. Taishaun Forehand-Jenkins chipped in ten points.
 
York shot a season-best 55 percent from the field and led by as many 18 points.
 
Brooklyn was led by Maynard Grant IV, who had 20 points and ten boards. Michael Tesoriero finished with 15 points.
 
The Cardinals got off to a slow start, trailing 10-3 in the early-going, but York quickly erased Brooklyn's lead and later would close the half with an 11-3 run to go up by 16 points at halftime.   York was in control for most of the second half as well. Brooklyn did close to within two possessions in the final minute of play, but York held off the late run by making its free throws down the stretch.
 
The win now puts York's record at 5-8, 3-3 CUNYAC, while Brooklyn drops to 3-11, 3-3 CUNYAC. The Cardinals will return to action on Saturday with a home game vs. CCNY at 3 p.m.
