BROOKLYN, NY- The York College men's soccer team kept pace with Medgar Evers College for most of Thursday night's match. However, in the second half, Medgar Evers was able to pull away and come out victorious by a score of 3-0.

Throughout the first half of this matchup, York had to be pleased with the way they were playing. Despite a goal in the 29th minute by Medgar Evers,York College had just one less shot in the first half than their opponent and looked poised to breakthrough and score a goal.

However, Medgar Evers College pulled away in the latter 30 minutes of the contest. In the 64th minute a handball in the goalie box led to a penalty kick for the Cougars. Darell Ambersley converted the kick to make it 2-0.  Ten minutes later, Medgar Evers scored again following a breakaway, which led to a goal by Romell Clarke after a rebound from the initial shot.

The Cardinals will look to bounce back in their next matchup scheduled for this Saturday, September 9th against St. Joseph's College. York will carry a record of 1-2, while St. Joseph's College will play their first home game with a 0-2 record.
