UNION, N.J.—The York College men's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at Kean University on Wednesday night. York fell to New Jersey City University, 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-22) and later lost to Kean, 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-14).
Against NJCU (10-13), York was led by
Burrel Kirk Murray and
Kevin Campbell, who each had six kills apiece.
Adil Manji had 18 assists and
Paramvir Singh finished with ten digs.
York's best chance at winning a set came in the third, when a 5-0 run with Campbell serving helped put the Cardinals up 10-6. But NJCU chipped into the lead, cutting the deficit to 12-11, and then scoring five straight to go up 16-12. They did not relinquish the lead from there and finished off the match shortly after.
Against Kean (18-8), the Cardinals were never really in the match. Kean hit an incredible .536 on the evening. Murray was once again a bright spot for York with six kills.
The Cardinals (4-22) return to action next Tuesday at 7 p.m. when they host the College of Staten Island on senior night. York needs a victory and some help to keep their CUNYAC playoff hopes alive.
