PURCHASE, N.Y.—York College junior
Akeem George recorded 12 kills and hit .455, but it would not be enough as the Cardinals fell to Purchase College, 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-19).
The 12 kills and .455 hitting percentage were both the second-highest marks of the year for George. Also contributing for York was

Kevin Campbell had a match-high 11 digs and
Paramvir Singh added ten digs.
Purchase's Kevin Carges was the star of the match though, as he recorded 18 kills with ten digs.
York had its chances in this one, jumping out to a 17-13 lead in the opening set thanks to five straight Cardinal points. But the Panthers chipped away and moved ahead, 23-22. York followed with an
Akeem George kill, but Purchase then got the next two points to steal the first set.
In the second set, Purchase pulled away thanks to a 5-0 run that pushed its lead from 13-11 to 18-11. The Panthers were never threatened from there.
In the final set, York once again had its chances, but the Panthers would score six straight to turn a 16-16 tie to a 22-16 advantage.
York drops to 4-15 with the loss, while Purchase improves to 10-4. York return to action on Friday with the opening match of the Eastern Mennonite Tournament. They face Thiel College at 8 p.m.
