Lehman Downs York Men’s Volleyball in Straight Sets

JAMAICA, N.Y.—The York College men's volleyball team came up empty against Lehman College on Tuesday night, losing by a score of 3-0 (25-7, 25-8, 25-19).

York struggled mightily in the first two sets, as Lehman quickly took care of business against the Cardinals. The Lightning hit .200 in the first set and .409 in the second set.

York showed signs of life in the third set, taking its first lead of the match at 11-10, following a run of four straight points.  However, a 7-0 Lightning run shortly after put Lehman up 18-13.  York could not recover from the run, and Lehman went on to win the set, 25-19.

York was led by Kevin Campbell, who had four kills and nine digs.  Kit Keeratikanchanavong had seven digs. Lehman got a match-high eight kills from both Yaw Eshun and Yordy Diaz.

The loss drops York to 0-4, while Lehman is 2-5. The match counts as a non-conference contest even though it was a CUNYAC opponent. The official CUNYAC match will take place later this season.

York will back at it on Saturday with a home quad match. They Cardinals host Wells College at 2 p.m. and Alvernia University at 4 p.m.
