NEW YORK, N.Y.- The York women's basketball team was in action on Friday night. However, early struggles in the first quarter put the Cardinals in a hole, and they lost by a final score of 66-44.
Â
York as a team managed just six points, while allowing the Bearcats to post 20 points after 10 minutes of play. While the early scoring woes proved to make a huge difference in the game, the Cardinals also struggled with possession. Despite limiting Baruch to just 30% shooting for the game, the Cardinals gave too many extra opportunities to Baruch behind 29 turnovers.
Â
In the loss,
Karen Bellamy led the team in points (13) and rebounds (11). Off the bench,
Allison Ahmed contributed ten points while grabbing six boards. For Baruch, the combination of Shannon Barrett and Daniela Arias was too much for the Cardinals to handle, as the duo combined for 53 points in the victory.
Â
The Cardinals now hold a 1-4 record on the young season. York will look to make some improvements before their next home game scheduled for Tuesday, December 5
th at 5:30 pm when they take on CUNYAC opponent College of Staten Island.Â
