Women’s Basketball Can’t Climb out of Early Deficit in Loss to Ramapo

MAHWAH, N.J.—Despite a late run, the York College women's basketball team came up short on road, losing to Ramapo College by a score of 57-47 on Friday night.
 
The game was the first of two games at the Roadrunner Tip-off Tournament this weekend. With the loss, York now plays in the consolation game tomorrow at 12 p.m. versus St. Joseph's (Brooklyn).
 
York was severely outplayed in the first half of action, falling behind 15-6 after one quarter and 33-13 at halftime. The Cardinals were held to just 16 percent shooting and committed 15 turnovers, which was converted into 12 points for Ramapo. The third quarter was more of the same, with Ramapo outscoring York, 18-8, to take a seemingly commanding, 48-19 lead.
 
The Cardinals would not go down without a fight and outscored the Roadrunners 28-9 in the final quarter to make it a respectable score.  Trailing 57-33 with 4:53 remaining, York would score the final 14 points of the game to finish within ten points.
 
In the loss, York got a game-high 16 points from Karen Bellamy and ten points from both NyKeisha Paul and Claudia Rhoden.
 
Ramapo was led by Jessica Repasy, who had 12 points. The Roadrunners improve to 2-0.
 
With the loss, York is now 0-2.
