PURCHASE, NY- The York women's volleyball team played in their final game Thursday night against Purchase College and won by a score of 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 28-26).
In the first set, York had an early 18-12 lead. The Panthers would then go on a 9-4 run to find themselves only down by one point. However, the Cardinals didn't falter. Three kills in the final points, from a combination of Argenis Moralis and
Allison Li, was enough for York to come out with the first set win.
In the second set of play, York jumped out to a 12-10 lead. This was the closest the Panthers would come, as the Cardinals would go on a 13-3 run, featuring five kills during this time.
The final set was played differently. Purchase was in control, taking a commanding 18-9 lead over the Cardinals. York never gave up on the set though, and would go on a huge 16-6 run to tie the game at 25-25. After the Panthers scored first in extra points, York tallied off three straight points to come out with the win.
As a team, the Cardinals put up five aces to go along with 28 kills. All of the seniors played a huge role in their final match with the Cardinals.
Allison Li led the team with 27 digs while also chipping in seven kills, tying
Christine Houston for the most on the team in the contest.
Allison Ahmed also played a crucial role in the game, tallying 21 assists and 14 digs.
York ends the season with a final record of 3-21.
