BROOKLYN, N.Y.—Mt. Aloysius College proved to be too much for the York College women's soccer team, defeating the Cardinals, 8-0, in the 2016 season opener at Aviator Sports and Events Center on Friday night.
 
York had no answer for the Mounties' Sam Torrenti, who scored four goals, including the first three of the match in just 31 minutes.  Mt. Aloysius scored another goal in the 38th minute to go up by four at halftime. Things did not improve in the second half, as Mt. Aloysius doubled up the score in the second half, getting goals in the 58th, 61st, 62nd and 89th minute. 
 
Mt. Aloysius put pressure on York all night long, collecting 26 shots with York keeper Sarah Hilaire turning away 11 of them.  Meanwhile, the Cardinals were stifled offensively, managing just one shot on net. 
 
York (0-1) will have six days off to regroup and will return to action on September 8, when they host Maritime College at 7 p.m.
