Delgado Leads York Women’s Soccer to Win over Yeshiva

NEW YORK, NY— York College senior Estefany Delgado scored two goals and assisted on two others to lead the Cardinals' women's soccer team to a 4-0 win over Yeshiva University on Sunday.

Delgado, York's all-time leader in both points and goals, set up the first goal in the 30th minute, after her shot was put in on a rebound by Monique Surf.  It was Surf's first goal of her career.

Then in the 35th minute, Delgado took a through ball from Michelle Rodriguez and scored on a breakaway. Just over a minute later, the two hooked up again in similar fashion, as Delgado was left all alone after a Rodriguez Pass for another goal.

York then rounded out the scoring in the 87th minute, when a cross from Delgado was deflected off Kendry Sibri and put into the net.  It was also Sibri's first career goal.

In goal, Sarah Hilaire turned away five shots to earn her first shutout of the season.

The win was the first of the season for York (1-2), while Yeshiva drops to 0-4. The Cardinals will look to build off the momentum from the impressive victory when they host Medgar Evers College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
